Fred Perry Reaffirms Its Commitment To Aspiring Youth Culture With A ‘Share Your Stories’ Workshop

Spotlighting British youth in partnership with the Museum of Youth Culture.

Fred Perry is launching a collective community initiative as a part of its new ‘Share Your Stories’ program. Throughout the years Fred Perry has remained steadfast in British youth culture and nightlife. As Fred Perry continues to be embraced by younger generations across the country, the 72 year old luxury sportswear brand has realised its essential position in the getting ready portion of the night, and the importance of this segment as one of the most fun and most memorable of the evening.

A new campaign from Fred Perry in partnership with the Museum of Youth Culture invites audiences and participants to collect their own photographs, playlists and memorabilia from the ‘getting ready’ phase. Documenting the ritual of getting ready from clubs, gigs and festivals to road trips and days out, Fred Perry welcomes you to create an album of memories that represent your own experiences growing up in Britain.

As part of this new initiative, Fred Perry will be going on tour around the U.K., travelling to towns and Fred Perry stores for a ‘Show & Tell’ day. Check out the list below and bring your own photos, flyers, ticket stubs for Fred Perry to scan and add to the Museum of Youth Culture.

The events are all free and will involve talks with local Museum Of Youth Culture contributors, as they continue to build a national archive documenting the stories of growing up in Britain and celebrate youth and subcultures as an invaluable part of Britain’s social history. Since launching in 2019, the MOYC has collated objects and memories documenting youth culture in Britain covering key decades from the roaring twenties up to the Drill artists of the 2020s.

Founder of Museum of Youth Culture, Jon Swinstead comments, “Whilst there is much that unites us across generations, there are subtle differences in how youth culture expresses itself across regions in the UK – so a punk in Glasgow looks different to one in Brighton and it’s important we represent these divergences in subculture. We are excited to be taking the museum on tour across Britain and see what new stories we can discover, and Fred Perry is the perfect cultural partner for this.”

He continued “Bringing MOYC to l regions across the country is important as ultimately we want the museum to represent as many diverse histories of growing up as possible. Being able to work with our friends at Fred Perry on this tour is an exciting opportunity and a great way to celebrate our shared Subcultural history.”
