Far from Flashback Friday, today we’re all about the newness with launches from both Topman and French Connection. As well as that we’ve news of a soon to be launched career, that of Xiao Li who won at the International Talent Support awards on Saturday.


At the tail end of last week the ITS awards took place in Trieste, Italy. Based on a theme of ‘Denim Revolution’, Chinese student Xiao Li took home the Diesel award for a collection that lived up to the brief while introducing innovative techniques using silicon.

The Royal College of Art student was presented with her prize by Diesel’s Artistic Director, Nicola Formichetti. Along with a heart shaped award, she wins a cash prize of €25,000 and a six month placement with the Diesel Creative Team at their Italian head office.


On Wednesday French Connection celebrated their new AW13 campaign with a bash boasting celeb faces by the lorry load. ‘From Sketch to Store’ was thought up by photographer, Rankin and his creative agency, The Full Service, and puts to paper the process that goes into each collection.

The campaign is the brand’s first to be shot exclusively in black and white, while the illustrations were drawn on on-set by Jo Bird from Jelly London. French Connection’s Jennifer Roebuck described the collaboration as ‘a seamless experience’, and the images certainly live up to it.


Lastly, a new trouser leg from Topman. So what, you may cry, but for those for whom the skinny is becoming frankly unbearable, and those whose baggy lengths are picking things up that should frankly remain on the pavement, the new cuffed trouser will be a welcome buy.

Like a tracksuit bottom but with bonus smart credentials, the trousers are available to buy online and in-store today. Check out Topman’s launch video for a slice of the action below.
