Clash plays catch up with the week’s most fashionable headlines (or something to that effect).

Earlier this week Chanel’s Creative Director, Karl Lagerfeld announced the brand’s plans to host the pre-SS15 collection presentation in Dubai.

Taking place on 13th May, the city follows Linlithgow in Scotland and more recently Dallas, as a location for what will likely be an extravagant affair.

The location for such shows frequently acts not just as a venue but as a mood for the collection too, with kilts and Stetsons examples of pre-fall 13 and pre-fall 14 attire.

Elsewhere Vivienne Westwood was recently called upon to dress Miss Piggy for the forthcoming ‘Muppets Most Wanted’ film.

Set for release next month, stills from the movie show Miss Piggy in a custom Westwood wedding gown – the likes of which retail at just two Westwood stores in LA and London.

Vivienne Westwood Red Label AW14 debuts in London this Sunday; you can stream it live at 5pm here.

And finally, the nominees for the very first LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize were announced yesterday.

Introduced last November, the luxury goods sponsored prize sees 30 semi-finalists compete for a €300,000 prize, as well as a year of mentoring from the industries experts; Phoebe Philo, Raf Simons and Marc Jacobs all sit on the jury.

Joining designers from Paris, New York, Milan, India, Korea, Nigeria, Ukraine, Russia and the Netherlands, London based designers including Simone Rocha, Meadham Kirchhoff, Thomas Tait, Craig Green, Christopher Shannon and Marques’Almeida were among the 30.

The final winner will be announced following two days of judging in Paris on 26th and 27th February.
