The designer follows his Artist Studio effort with a new capsule collection.

Dubbed the ‘authentic urban bag brand’, today Eastpak announces a new capsule collection from fashion’s enfant terrible, Jean Paul Gaultier.

The new line – available from 1st April in-store at Selfridges and online at oki-ni – follows the designer’s work with the brand last December, for which he joined Christopher Shannon, Walter Van Beirendonck and MSGM as one of the 16 designers partaking in the annual Artist Studio project, which supports Designers Against Aids.

“I believe the condom is the greatest piece of clothing ever invented,” Gaultier said at the time; the new project similarly hopes to help promote awareness for the Belgium organisation.

In place of the 3 Japanese vintage jackets that comprised last year’s one off design, the new collection boasts a more practical approach with hardwearing exteriors – clad in denim and nylon – and large front pockets.
