Craig Green Deconstructs Eastpak’s Classic Backpack Into A DIY Statement Piece

Merging practicality, comfort and innovation, Craig Green and Eastpak launch their first collaboration to date.

Eastpak and Craig Green have teamed up on their first collection, elevating a classic backpack into a utilitarian essential.

Founded in 1952 as a technological maufacturer developing durable gear for the US military, Eastpak has built on this reputation of reliability, superior quality and impactful design. Over the years the evolving brand has shifted further into the lifestyle sphere, inspiring and supportung regular people to venture outside. In more recent years, the Boston lifestyle brand has pursued collaboration with a fun, versatile edge, sharing its vision for useful, long lasting accessories with fashion conosseures, film icons and cultural gamechangers – think MM6 Maison Margiela, Telfar, and even the JAWS franchise.

For Spring, Craig Green is brought into the fray, executing his eye for extravagant workwear across distinctive, practical designs. Since forming his own label in 2012, the Central Saint Martens graduate has lent his concepts to uniform, focussed on layering and deconstruction. Across, the designer keeps his detailing rough around the edges and exposed, tapping into a deeply vulnerable style of expression. Today, the artist extends his ideas over the iconic Eastpak backpack, stitching together a quilted exterior with rope-inspired detailings, which speaks to a more heavy-duty, DIY aesthetic. In true Green fashion, each piece ensures comfort with padded panels and shoulder straps. Elsewhere, the Quilted Travel Pack offers a versatile, 2-in-1 functionality with thought-out compartments, a roomy accessory that can be carried in numerous different ways. Finalised with the Quilted Waist bag, the collection echoes Greens’ maximalist use of belts and handles, offering the perfect companion to day-to-day commutes.

Offering an earthy, muted palette, Eastpak and Craig Green experiment with CG Black, CG Khaki and CG Navy shades between models. Set to land today, the collection can be purchased exclusively via eastpak.com.
