The shoe brand team up with Best Coast for Record Store Day.

So you may have noticed-if you've been paying attention elsewhere on and beyond-tomorrow is Record Store Day. Like christmas, it comes but once a year and if you've been nice you might get a treat. Actually, as long as you have a few pennies in your pocket it doesn't matter whether you've been naughty or nice, records galore are yours for the taking (as are the long queues which will no doubt be a part of the experience). Clarks Originals are getting in on the action too with a new range of Desert Boots. Gone are the brown and beige suede for which they are renowned, in are the pink, blue and black patent, 'vinyl' textured heel and a black and white record print design.

The collection was created to realise an association made by Clarks about their choice product and vinyl; the latter was perfected in 1948 and just two years later the former came into being. The two products continue to hold a tight grasp on their respective industries today, while an air of nostalgia is never far from each. The new shoes maintain the original Clarks design, with the addition of a black record shape tag.

Alongside the collaboration Clarks have teamed up with Best Coast for a gig in the US (sob), and a limited edition record to be sold in participating stores on Saturday (yay). The gig will be streamed online so fret not, while the taster below sees Clarks Originals Head Designer, Marike Bruggink and Michael Kurtz, one of the co-founders of RSD discuss their intentions for the project. There might just be a cameo from Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno in there too (clue: there is).
