“I grew up wearing Wallabees through the British Acid House era and it is a shoe I love,” explains Goodhood co-founder, Jo Sindle of the store’s new collaboration.
The pairing – of the Shoreditch based shop and British shoemakers Clarks Originals – seems such a natural one, the contemporary association of the latter politely reflected in the former’s aesthetic, that the fact this is the debut partnering seems at odds.
Producing two new look Wallabees, one dark tan and topped with sheepskin, the other a paler shade and boasting a print of while swirls, the capsule line is a unisex offering and exclusive to the Curtain Road space from tomorrow.
“We focused on trying to stay true to the original and updating it with sympathetic details taking inspiration from the music videos of that era,” Sindle continues.
“As soon as I knew I could pull the project together I got on the phone to the guys at Goodhood,” adds Chris Law, Head of Design at Clarks Originals, “They understand the product and were able to add their DNA easily.”
