The Danish label updates a British classic.

“I have been wearing the iconic Clarks Originals Wallabee for years,” Brian SS Jensen claims. A co-founder of the Danish brand Wood Wood, his is the latest label to collaborate with the so-called British institution, Clarks.

Jensen continues, “I found it interesting to utilize this model as foundation for a new shoe with a more sporty and contemporary look.”

The new shoe in question is the Tawyer – the stepson of the classic Wallabee style – that forms the basis of the new partnership.

With Wood Wood’s ‘Utopia’ titled SS14 collection as a starting point (all marbled effects, sports inspired separates and subtle colours), the Tawyer here is dressed up in soft blue and maroon leather with camel coloured embossed pull-tabs at the back, almost resembling mini totem poles, such is the style of detail.

Launching exclusively at Wood Wood stores this Thursday 6th March, the shoes go on general sale across town from the 15th. Ahead of this, Danish director Anders Malmberg was commissioned to produce a preview.

Previously responsible for Mø’s ‘Waste of Time’ video (currently sitting pretty at 1,315,918 YouTube views), the Clarks by Wood Wood result features three 35-second clips of similarly flat colours and Scandinavian grace.
