Carhartt WIP Gets A Hybridised Upgrade With Sacai
Carhartt WIP is the latest brand to collaborate with Sacai, shaking up house codes with Chitose Abe’s signature disrupted, hybridised design elements and elevating its utilitarian workwear pieces.
Debuting on the Sacai AW23 Paris runway back in January, the highly anticipated drop capitalises on the Japanese label’s androgynous aesthetic and Carhartt’s rugged sensibilities for a diverse range of men’s and women’s silhouettes. By utilising bold cuts and textures while mixing lengthy and cropped shapes, traditional pieces are transformed into an unexpected and highly wearable collection that is built for layering.
Stand-out pieces include Sacai’s innovative reinterpretation the famous Carhartt WIP’s Detroit jacket, which features inside-out zipper detailing and a hybrid cardigan-bomber jacket, both of which feature brushed hardware and an abundance of pockets.
This collaboration combines Carhartt WIP’s hardwearing, functional styles and fabrics with Sacai’s illustrious layering and deconstruction for an everyday collection that augments the typical notions of workwear.
The collection will launch on September 8th at Sacai, Carhartt-WIP and Dover Street Market locations worldwide, with a series of pop ups to mark the occasion.
