Browns Launches An Exclusive Amiri Capsule Rooted In Music
Amiri presents a new capsule collection at Browns that takes inspiration from various music subcultures of the past.
Founded in 2014, Amiri has since been nominated for Menswear Designer of the Year at the CFDA Fashion Awards in 2019, 2021 and 2022. Mike Amiri went on to establish the Amiri Prize in 2021 as a means to celebrate and encourage young talent. Last Tuesday Amiri revealed the 2023 finalists for the Amiri Prize as Abdel El Tayeb, Dorian Who, Ekwerike Chukwuma, Grace Ling, Keith Herron, Li Gong, Luke Zhou, Maike Huang, Lukhanyo Mdingi, and Maxwell Osborne.
The collection launch coincides with a special conceptual space at the Browns store, and gives an insight into the inner workings of Mike Amiri and his vision for the Los Angeles brand. Consisting of 21 pieces, the diverse, unisex capsule collection features a range of soft tailoring, knits, chunky sneakers and leatherware. Founder Mike Amiri leaned into his past working in music and fused influential 90s hip hop aesthetics with his own specialty ias a couturier for Los Angeles musicians.
Browns debuts the collection and accompanying installation at their new ‘Focus’ room, a dedicated space to unveil new conceptual projects. The Amiri collection will be presented within a pale green room that showcases the many artists and albums that shaped Amiri’s vision for the project.
