Brain Dead Brings the Sand To The City With A New Clarks Originals Collaboration

Presenting a subversive take on the Desert Nomad that will be available from next week.

Brain Dead isn’t pulling any punches with its new Clarks Originals collaboration. Taking on the iconic Desert Nomad, the California skate brand debuts a new silhouette and colourway for the classic shoe.

In true Brain Dead style, the shoe is unlike anything we’ve ever seen from Clarks. Wrapped in a soft pony skin, cow print motif and set over a thick black rubber sole made from Clarks Originals’ signature crepe material, the shoe becomes reminiscent of a creeper. Pairing Brain Dead’s idiosyncratic flair with the functionality of a technical boot gives the desert shoe a counter-cultural edge. The uninterrupted brown and white panels are divided by a thick black trim and laces, and punctuated with a green branded tag on the back of the shoe that reminds the wearer of Brain Dead’s quirky style.

Founded in 2014 by Kyle Ng and Ed David, Brain Dead has built a reputation over the last 10 years as one of the key players on the LA skate and alternative scene. With a keen eye for talent across a diverse spectrum, the brand has maintained its integrity and the flow of underground subcultures at its heart. Brain Dead is the latest in a long line of brands to collaborate with Clarks in recent years, following the likes of Stüssy, Aries, Aimé Leon Dore and Martine Rose, but Brain Dead is the first to take on the Desert Nomad.

Photographed by Frankie Carino and Charlotte Patterson, the campaign is set out in the wild, under clear skies and a bright sun. Model Jabari Wimbley balances on jagged rocks with ease, showing off the adaptability of the shoe.

Brain Dead x Clarks Originals will be available from May 7th at all Brain Dead stores and via
