Birkenstock 1774 Captures The Eternal Sunshine Of L.A.

Two new silhouettes from Birkenstock 1774 embody the timeless nostalgia of 90s Los Angeles.

Birkenstock 1774 is embracing the ongoing heatwave with the second drop from its Eternal Sunshine collection. A two-part celebration of hazy Los Angeles summers, the sun-soaked campaign captured by Clara Balzary traverses blissful scenes from Southern California beaches and desserts.

The collection and campaign are both rooted in nostalgia, delving into the Birkenstock archives to bring forth classic silhouettes and archetypes in new fabrications and sunny, vintage-inspired colourways such as citrus, blue, olive and burgundy.

The first drop from Eternal Sunshine in June featured the Arizona and Milano silhouettes in spray-painted raffia to pay homage to L.A.’s Golden Age of surf culture in the 1960s. This edit for August leaps ahead to the 1980s as the Madrid and Milano silhouettes receive a glazed leather upgrade with silver buckles and the brand’s footbed. This drop also debuts the new Eliscu clog and the Sylt slide sandal, both quilted in soft workwear denim that reference the worn-in grunge and skate culture of the 1990s.
