The fashion awards is always an evening to look forward to, a place where the fashion and creative community come together to celebrate: culture, innovation and achievement. With its change in name to suit a more international audience, this years ceremony was another star-studded event to remember.
We arrived just in time before the red carpet closed, in the true spirit of ‘fashionably late’ we were relieved to see we were not the only ones to arrive minutes before the carpet closed.
Ashley Graham, Georgia Palmer, Tems, Eva Apio were hot-stepping just as we arrived. From the sequence, to the intricacy of their outfits we knew the temperature of the event was going to be sky high despite the chill in the air from a winter’s evening in London.
Guests graced the red carpet and were then instructed to make their way into the hall, in which seats were allocated and all-comers were greeted with a glass of bubbly. As we arrived in the infamous Royal Albert Hall the sounds floating through the room were supplied by none other than the ACS Boys (Aston & Emmanuel).
Pandora’s annual sponsorship provided fireworks from the offset, as faces from their campaign – the sibling duo Chloe & Halle Bailey opened the evening with an incredible performance. With the hall now packed and in full swing, the tempo was set for an unforgettable evening.
For the second year in a row, Kojey Radical and Maya Jama hosted the ceremony and believe us they wasted no time in getting the proceedings moving. It was only right that the first award was none other than the BFC Foundation trophy. This is an award that celebrates the incubation of designers and reflects the hard work the BFC have put in across the 40 years of their existence. Giving British designers the support and preparation to dominate on the international stage. The award was given to none other than Chopova lowena who have had an incredible year incorporating stellar runway’s and unique collaborations.
Amongst awards they were two special acknowledgements: A$AP Rocky & founder of 10 Magazine Sophia Neophitou Apostolu for their contribution towards the creative community. Both acceptance speeches were abuzz with gratitude and encouragement for the next generation of creatives.
The fashion awards was nothing short of a movie, with performances following throughout the whole evening. Who said you can’t have fun on a school night ? A black cab to The Maine for a night-cap was the perfect way to end the celebrations.
