Vatican D.C

"They called us The Libertines on Viagra!"

Acclaimed by industry heavyweights Zane Lowe and XFM Radio, and fresh from tours with Bloc Party and The Prodigy, Vatican DC are Irish Steve on vocals, Daniel Lindegren on rhythm guitar, Chris Gentry on lead guitar, Luca Spoto on bass and Tal Amiran on drums. The band has finished sound checking for a gig later tonight, and I’m squeezing in an interview with Steve while joking about how many times the single ‘Wow’ will get remixed before the album’s finally released. “There’s another mix comin’!” says Steve in a thick but agreeable Irish drawl. “I was on top of the world when the album was finished, but I just want it to come out now. With ‘Wow’ we just had a beat and a vague outline, and it came alive in the studio. It was kind of an accident. But once it was done we decided it would be the first single. It was the springboard, I guess.” “I’m much happier being able to develop so people think we have our own thing going on. Paul Moody from NME called us ‘The Libertines on Viagra’! But scenes die. The key is to grow, to evolve. It’s an open road for us.”
