The sound of Alessandro Michele...
Mark Ernestus and Moritz Von Oswald started a revolution that will not be televised. Nor will it be recorded. Or rarely talked about. Meet the two Germans whose quiet musical movements over a decade ago engineered a sleeper cell in dance music that has been slowly exposed by the revealing force of time. Mark and Moritz’s soundscapes are reductive in the extreme. Their more club based material recorded as Basic Channel in the early to mid 90s broke convention at a time when many in the world were still hypnotic with mechanised beats. Basic Channel’s work now resides in musical stasis as the duo choose to delve deep beneath layers of lazy snaking dub structures forged in their more restrained and reggae influenced Rhythm And Sound guise.
