Win: Church Of Sound presents Wulu All Stars – Minnie Riperton Songbook

A very special evening of music...

From this summer onwards the Church Of Sound crew have been throwing some of London's deepest parties, matching the most forward-thinking musicians to some of the finest selectors.

This time, however, they well have outdone themselves. Church Of Sound once again take control of St. James The Great church in Clapton, inviting the Wu-Lu collective to head East this Saturday (November 26th).

Hector Plimmer and Wu-Lu have been running events in Brixton for some time, inviting musicians, poets, artists, crate-diggers and more to coalesce and let new ideas spring forth.

Wu-Lu has pieced together a 13 piece super-band for this one off show, tackling the songbook of true American great Minnie Riperton.

A product of soul's golden age, Minnie would record cuts alone and as part of Rotary Connection, the legendary group whose work has been sampled by hip-hop greats such as A Tribe Called Quest, RZA, and more.

The super-band will feature three vocalists, horns, percussion, a sampler, and a spoken word artist, while an after-party will include sets from DJs Alexander Nut (Eglo Records / NTS), Andwot (Touching Bass/ NTS), Sam Leedman (Balamii), Lexus Blondin (CoS/Total Refreshment), and Born Cheating (Boiler Room/Radar Radio).

Check out a sneak preview below.

Completely sold out, Clash has obtained two pairs of tickets to this very special event – to stand a chance of winning, simply name your favourite Rotary Connection track – we'll pick the winners…
