The Flaming Lips - Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds

Sean Lennon joins Beatles tribute...

In this era of near endless information, near endless channels of exploration, it's difficult to fully appreciate the impact The Beatles had on American life.

Making their debut on Stateside television with a fateful performance on The Ed Sullivan Show, the band played to a record audience - in short, virtually the whole of American watched them perform.

A shattering moment in pop culture, it saw Beatlemania flare across the United States and turned the Fab Four into instant icons. David Letterman paid tribute to that moment on The Late Show, with a number of acts performing special cover versions.

The Flaming Lips picked 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds' and delivered a raucous version in keeping with the lysergic spirit of the original. As an added bonus, Sean Lennon joined in to supply backing vocals.
