Surreal new clip...
Stephen Malkmus

Stephen Malkmus has nothing to prove.

Pavement's re-union caused a tidal wave of goodwill to flood over the band's back catalogue, while the songwriter's own solo career is continuing to bear fruit.

Now safely ensconced with long term sparring partners The Jicks, new album 'Wig Out At Jagbags' is set to be released on January 6th.

It's as you would expect: Stephen Malkmus steers the group through some skewed, often quite surreal areas, continuing to push himself in fresh directions.

New cut 'Cinnamon And Lesbians' is a decent primer for the album as a whole. Buoyed by a heavy, fuzzed up 70s style rock riff, Stephen Malkmus leds the band through all manner of about-turns in a gleefully meandering journey.

The video for the track matches Malkmus' twisted wit in every day. Featuring (in no particular order) a weary traveler, an escaped prisoner, a jar of biscuits being emptied over a man's head and a woman on a date with a frog, it's a continually bewildering, oddly entrancing clip.

Watch it now.
