Premiere: Whales – ‘Twerp’

It's a dark, uncompromising video...

Portuguese group Whales instantly knew they'd reached a new level. Working at a frenetic pace, the band kept writing and writing, challenging themselves to go further and further. But when 'Twerp' emerged from the ether, the group realised they'd hit upon something special. Whales comment: "When we wrote this song we thought ‘Ok this is the way we want to go from now on’ and it was just a matter of adapting all the others to fit around it." Searingly inventive, the video for 'Twerp' is dark and uncompromising, featuring the presence of human sacrifice. The band continue: "We came up with the idea of a person chained to a pole in a deserted landscape, surrounded by twelve burning human figures facing him. We wanted to create something visually stunning within a brutal and obscure environment." Tune in now.
