The Gromble spent four years working on their debut album 'Jaysus'.
Four years of false starts and false endings, four years of working out exactly how their music should be approached.
Due out on February 12th, 'Jayus' is the product of (literal) blood, sweat and tears. Before then, though, The Gromble have decided to unveil a seasonal treat.
'By Christmas' is just the thing to brighten up these mid-Winter days. The Gromble explain:
"This is our first ever holiday song, falling somewhere between an experiment and a labor of love. Our debut full length, 'Jayus', has been roughly four years in the making for various reasons, we wanted to take a completely opposite approach for this to develop and streamline our process for working on new material. We wrote, recorded, and released this song all in the span of about two and a half weeks. Most of it was tracked in our own studio after work between the hours of 1:00 and 6:00 am. This is the first song written with keyboardist/saxophonist Spencer Wiles as a member of the band, who was brought on during the recording of 'Jayus' after the writing process to add string and horn arrangements to the tracks."
"'By Christmas' relies more on synths than any of our previous releases, using a vintage, Prophet T-5, MOOG Voyager, and Crumar Performer. The song started out as an attempt at a 32 bar classic-style Christmas song, which is reflected in the lyrics of the first verse. Beyond that section it devolves into our normal fare, hopefully blending some of the sounds and feelings of classic Christmas music with some modern sounds and instrumentation, bringing with it a structure that is less rigid and maybe less reasonable."
'Jayus' will be released on February 12th.
