The dreamy effects of shoegaze seemed to strip away identity, blurring gender lines and nationality in the process.
Quickly becoming a global entity, the scene's resurgence has broken away from the UK-United States axix. Based in Turkey, The Away Days blend beautifully woven guitar lines with a keen awareness of the circumstances currently weighing down on youth culture in their country.
Cult heroes in Turkey, the band's material matches the citrus-sharp songcraft of, say, School of Seven Bells with the whirlwind drumming of early Ride. Hell, there's even a bit of Swervedriver's rock edge in there, as well.
New cut 'Your Colour' matches a blissful, soaring sonic sweep to songwriting with a real dynamism. It's this dichotomy of the physical with the cerebral, the chilled out with the searingly intense which powers The Away Days, taking them away from that well-worn shoegaze sound and into an area very much their own.

'Your Colour' will be released on June 9th.
