Premiere: Stanley Odd – ‘Pastime’

Blues driven return from idiosyncratic hip hop crew...

Stanley Odd like to follow their heart.

During the debate over Scottish independence, the Edinburgh based group crafted a track which seemed to strike a chord with Yes campaigners. Softer than their usual material, it gently spoke of an optimistic future, and it’s naivety – simple and true – helped it to go viral.

It’s an atmosphere which filters into their new album. ‘A Thing Brand New’ will be released on November 10th, and finds Stanley Odd continuing to paint out the boundaries of their utterly unique universe.

Ahead of this, Clash is able to premiere new track ‘Pastime’. Rocking to a delta blues riff, it features some soulful vocals while the lyrics – erudite yet brutal, poetic yet down to earth – contrast a life dedicated to music with life spent with a young family.
