There's something about the southern lands of the United States which just seem timeless.
Perhaps it's the endless scenery, the way the land moves from prairie to mountain top, hillside to flatland across endless thousand miles.
Or perhaps it's the music. St. Paul and The Broken Bones hail from Birmingham, Alabama and have been described as "the band who pick up where soul music left off".
There's certainly plenty of grit in their music. Produced by Ben Tanner of Alabama Shakes, the band's debut album was recorded and mixed in the storied R&B mecca of Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
A fusion of pulsating soul music and honest-to-goodness songwriting, 'Half The City' is delivered with a passionate, near religious fervour.
New cut 'Sugar Dyed' is a great starting off point. All scorching horns and wailing vocals, check out the video first on Clash.
