Premiere: Son Little – ‘O Mother’

ANTI- signing with a whole lot of soul...

Son Little joined the ANTI- stable a few short months ago, with his soulful approach and gritty delivery belying a poetic touch.

Aware of the society which raised him, the songwriter matches an often personal approach to a willingness to tackle difficult issues.

Clash is able to air the video for new track 'O Mother', which pits an almost gospel-like sensibility against lyrics which use the example of stray dogs as a metaphor for racial minorities in the United States.

Son Little:

"I read a story in a magazine about wolf/dog hybrids being cared for by military veterans. They'd been abandoned by people who thought it'd be cool to have a wolf dog for a pet, but then realized they didn't want to take care of them. When the animals are caught, they're usually killed. I was looking at these haunting pictures of them I realized the parallels between the wolf dogs and the vets who care for them, and also with Black and Latino men."

"Our society trains us to look and act dangerous (and trains others to look at us that way), and then punishes us for it; sometimes even when we resist the training. Even though the animals can be dangerous, they're beautiful creates just trying to survive in the world we made."
