Premiere: Scarlett Saunders – ‘I Should Know’

Directed by Julia Shoenstadt...

There's an intense devotion to beauty at play in the work of Scarlett Saunders.

There's that voice, for a start, but then the arrangements, the subtle renderings of each song, seem to wring out fresh perspectives.

'I Should Know' is ineffably beautiful, but it also captures some rather darker, more poignant moments from the newcomer's life.

She explains the the song is about “the initial anger and confusion that my father was going out with someone who was exactly the same age as me and also 19 years old at the time.”

Julia Shoenstadt takes charge of the visuals, and there's a sweeping, haunting feel at play.

Absorbing, engrossing, and – you guessed it – very beautiful, you can tune in below.
