Moriaty (aka Jordan West and Matthew Partridge) are a new couple of kids on this here rock block, a duo that ain’t afraid to mix it up with the odd guest collaborator. RIYL: Royal Blood, The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, we reckon.
Hailing from Devon, home of delicious custard and the not-so-appealing surrounds of Plymouth (how can a city by the sea seem so grey, all the time?), the pair has brought rappers into their equation in the past. But here they’re keeping things rather more trad, with a guesting bassist providing solid grooves both soncially and, in the video below, visually.
Recognise that man?
Yeah, it’s Chris Wolstenholme of Muse. You know, arena-filling, prog-riffing, squillion-selling Muse. No big deal.
Which for an emerging band is a pretty nice ‘feat’ to have, eh? Moriaty recorded ‘Bones’ with Chris, and he liked the song so much that he jumped on it. You know what we mean – he probably didn’t literally jump on it. It’s a turn of phrase. Try jumping on some master tapes and see how far that gets you.
Like what you hear? Here’s the band on Facebook, and they play a bunch of shows real soon, listings after the video for ‘Bones’. Boxing! Drumming! Muse-ing!
