Premiere: Michael Nau – ‘Love Survive’

New album 'Mowing' due for release on November 18th...

Michael Nau hails from a tiny Appalachian city in Maryland, a rural space that seems to allow his imagination free rein.

It certainly lets his music wander in some interesting directions. Picture dusty country records from the 70s, unearthed and presented in an entirely fresh light.

Strange, beguiling songwriting, his languid vocals are set against some lush Lee Hazlewood-style arrangements.

Clash is able to premiere new cut 'Love Survive', and it's simple, honest songwriting seems to cut right to the core.

Director Robert Wallace has crafted a video for the cut, and it's an expressive envisaging of the song. Robert explains:

"'Love Survive' is a light-hearted summery track, filled with personality and quirks. The video captures this mood, jumping between animated loops that move in time with the music. Set on a fictional island, the video explores the different aspects of nature there. Instead of a story-based narrative, the video expresses the feeling of the song, it’s rhythms and moods. To capture the organic sound, all of the animations were kept loose. The process used a mixture of real and digital brushes as well as hand painted texture loops to give the whole thing a hand-crafted aesthetic."
