John Southworth has always seemed like a man out of time.
The UK-born, Canadian-raised artist has previously resided in an antiquated style, but recently switched studios and embraced a host of new recording techniques.
The results blur time and tide, switching styles and crafting something that sluices together different time currents into one languid pool.
He explains: “It’s an attempt to create a simultaneous past-present-future with the wishful aim that the collision of these various energies spirals and magically breaks the space-time continuum, and the album all of a sudden appears in the jukeboxes of small town America”.
'Small Town Water Tower' will be released on November 4th, and it's John Southworth's tenth studio album to date.
As a preview, Clash is able to unveil the video for 'Second Childhood', and it's a doozy… Introspective yet warmly inviting, the soothing track comes coupled with some inventive visuals.
