Premiere: JAGGA – ‘Love The Pain’

East London newcomer continues to impress...

Bursting onto the scene with debut single 'Out Of Control' at the tail end of last year, JAGGA is keen to make each move count.

So new EP 'Love The Pain' is nothing if not considered. A four track document, it will be released on October 15th and features some surprising aesthetic decisions from the East London artist.

“I don't like my music to become formulaic," he says, "so I'm always looking for new ways that I can develop and evolve my tracks and my vocal delivery, I want to leave people never knowing whats coming next."

Clash is able to premiere the title cut. According to JAGGA, 'Love The Pain' "is about being tied to something even though you know its not good for you but at the same time being so caught up in the drama of it that you can’t let it go."

"I never sit down to write and plan whats going to happen or want to create a particular genre" he continues. "This track is drawing on a lot of influences from Hip Hop to house and who knows what else, when I was in production on it I was calling it the psychedelic church song because of the choral sounding falsetto and the distorted flute that runs through the track."

Shot by Dominic O’Riordan, 'Love The Pain' is accompanied by a dramatic new video. Utilising a bondage theme, JAGGA himself stepped in to assist in pushing the visuals ahead. "I did some research and came up with the idea of using the Japanese bondage/ art form Shibari, where a person is tied up in various poses and then suspended," he says. "I found Gestalta online, she’s an amazing rope artist who can tie and suspend herself, she’s one of the main features of the video."
