Premiere: Idioma – ‘Pandore’

French duo with a flair for repetition...

Repetition repetition repetition.

We live in a repetitive world, one which is built and organised around repetitive lives. Wake, travel, work, travel, eat, sleep, repeat.

Perhaps that's why the clinical, poised repetition of electronic music holds such value. Idioma build their production style around repetition, constructing vast looping labyrinths of sound.

"We loved the idea of keeping a repetitive bass all along the track," they mused recently. "We love the work of Arvo Pärt for example, who made some amazing tracks with simple and repetitive musical phrases, it makes you focus on the music and sometimes it's good to be deeply concentrated on sounds or melodies."

Working with Marketing Music, new EP 'Pandore' is out on November 7th. Sitting on the fringes of house and techno, their style is both complex and vast in scope, cerebral and distinctly emotional.

'Pandore' is a beautiful introduction. Built up from the most simple of parts, Idioma can create engrossing overarching structures with a real sense of poise.
