Harleighblu is only 21, but the Nottingham talent already has more than a decade's worth of live performance under her belt.
Steeped in soul, as a child she would peruse her mother's record collection, marvelling at the mysterious objects marked Motown and Stax. Refusing to merely mimic the sounds she heard, Harleighblu melded those influences together to craft something deeply individual.
Realising that soul is where you find it, the newcomer's influences are as broad as they are striking. Settling down to record her debut album, Harleighblu selected a crack team of musicians to help her realise her dream.
Working with Tru Thoughts, Harleighblu completed sessions on her debut album earlier this year. Titled 'Forget Me Not', the full length is set to arrive on October 14th but ahead of this Clash is able to premiere a very special live clip.
Shot at the YouTube studios in London, the rising soul talent shimmies through a rendition of 'Who's That Girl'. Originally by the Eurythmics, Harleighblu brings her own identity, her own voice to the track - check it out now.
