Premiere: Ghost Wave – ‘Blues Signal ’79’

New Zealand duo aligned to Flying Nun...

Cut from their acclaimed second album 'Radio Norfolk', New Zealand duo Ghost Wave introduce the video for “Blues Signal ’79”. Spooky, stoned guitar lines underpin a washed out vocal for a track that brings together the psychedelic shoegaze of Brian Jonestown Massacre with a pop chorus that stays on rails for four-minutes of laid back road-trip rock.

The lo-fi video, self-produced by the band, has the sweet 90s nostalgia of a home video and features long, summer’s evening shadows, wigs and tambourines. Like Spike Jonze shoots the Happy Mondays on a summer holiday.

Released via cult New Zealand label Flying Nun Records (The Clean, The Bats, The Verlaines), Radio Norfolk was received late last year as the crystallization of the sound Ghost Wave established on their 2013 debut Ages. That sound will be heading out on tour this Summer. Stay up to date here.
