Premiere: Gentleman’s Dub Club – ‘Unbreakable’

Featuring Solo Banton...

Bass is an international language, something which connects continent to continent, musical culture to musical culture.

Formed in the basement of 44 Headingley Lane in Leeds, Gentleman's Dub Club match classic reggae vibes to indie songcraft, the impact of dubstep to the groove of digital dancehall.

Festival favourites – one of their number co-runs Dimensions, after all – the band recently returned from live duties just long enough to smash out a new single.

'Unbreakable' is sheer bass-bin bedlam from the start, with Gentleman's Dub Club joined by bona fide UK reggae legend Solo Banton. The MC is on fine form, musing on free-flowing creativity rattling between the bass collective.

Solo Banton at one point rhymes about "the family, one community…" and it's easy to see why: the chemistry is palpable, with those sub-low belches kicking off against the group's one drop riddim.

Check it out now.

'Unbreakable' is out now. Check out Gentleman's Dub Club at London's City Splash at the Roundhouse on October 18th.
