For a while there, American groups would do anything to avoid sounding America.
The Anglophile tendency rang out loud and clear from groups such as Pavement, whose scratchy riffs and arch wit were more suited to Manchester, England than Manchester, Tennessee.
Yet the past decade has changed that. Our Stateside cousins have learned to accept themselves, looking inward to incorporate re-discovered influences.
Filligar were formed by three brothers and one close friend, with their camaraderie obvious to anyone lucky enough to catch them live. Reference points include (early) Kings of Leon or even The Black Keys, with Filligar fusing blues, country and rock into something potent, unkempt.
New album 'Hexagon' drops in September 23rd, but before then Clash are able to premiere a new video from the quartet. Shot in Amsterdam, the clip for 'New Local' finds Filligar getting acquainted with Dutch culture - making a few friends in the process.
