Brighton outfit Esben And The Witch can get pretty loud, as fans know only too well. But the trio can also turn a collective hand to rather more understated arrangements, as this live, session version of 'The Fall Of Glorieta Mountain' makes clear.
The track is the penultimate number on the band's second album, 'Wash The Sins Not Only The Face', released via Matador back in January 2013. Reviewing said album, Clash's Gareth James commented that everything on 'Wash The Sins...' "is bigger than what's gone before". Which might be true of its clattering, caustic cuts - but 'The Fall Of Glorieta Mountain' is the flip side to its makers' wilder songs, stripped near-bare with Rachel Davies' vocals to the fore.
Watch the performance above, as filmed by Bowlegs in Esben's hometown.
