Premiere: Analog Candle – ‘Trier’

Dreamy sounds from New York...

Dream pop as a genre is one of music's more nebulous, ever-evolving areas.

Almost impossible to pin down – much like dreams themselves, we suppose – it can still conjure documents of remarkable creation.

New York's Analog Candle are, loosely, a dream pop band, with those glacial harmonies arriving frosted with nostalgia.

New EP 'Winter '15' arrives on February 3rd, with the band sharing lead cut 'Trier' online. Intelligently crafted, each layer seems to rub away to reveal something with more depth, and more mystery.

Analog Candle have crafted a video for the track, which Clash is able to share before anyone else. First, a note of introduction…

“The fading silhouette of a once known friend dances amongst a mélange of memories, capturing the nostalgic essence of Analog Candle’s ’Trier’. The music video, inspired by Michael Gondry, mirrors the technique of double exposure in photography, and the resulting juxtapositions conjure the song’s day-dream of saccharine youthful days against a coarse present. The choreography of dancer Finn DeLacey-Kupel accentuates the movement of the Californian background imagery, resulting in a fluidity between the synths and wistful vocals of ‘Trier.’ As night descends on the Californian road-trip, vocalists’ Emma Tringali and Kim Schulke croon ‘Less and less left, a lesson best left,’ bringing the bittersweet memory to a close.”
