Mystery Jets – ‘Bubblegum’

Filmed at Red Sands...

Mystery Jets have always been inspiring by their surroundings, by the sheer oddness of British life.

So when shooting the video for new cut 'Bubblegum', the band opted for something pretty special. Red Sands is a place off the British coast, a defence mechanism designed during the Second World War.

Crumbling, yet still standing, it's a remarkable structure that remains under threat. Using drones and other adventurous techniques Mystery Jets have built up an inquisitive new video.

The band explain:

Just seven miles off the British coast is a place called Red Sands, where there are giant alien towers rising from the ocean on rusted legs. Built in the Thames Estuary to defend the United Kingdom from air raids during the WWII, the forts have been decommissioned for more than 50 years. Delicate and at risk, they are usually off-limits to the public, but the Mystery Jets got special access with the help of a group of passionate volunteers at Project Red Sands, to fly a drone around the strange structures and shoot a spectacular music video. 'Bubblegum' is due to be released on April 1st.
