Matt Wills wants to embrace the whole breadth and experience of life.
A songwriter with real ambition, he wears his heart on his sleeve, and as a result can only write about what's true.
New album 'Cigarettes & City Lights' is essentially his tale thus far, matching autobiographical lyricism to an innate pop touch.
"I wanted to just show that every vice – be it cigarettes, alcohol, sex or those little Reese’s Pieces things with the peanut butter – is just a release some sort of chemical in your body that makes you want more,” explains Matt. “We are all addicted to something. I wanted to show the little bit of darkness in something beautiful."
Expertly produced, the album has a fresh, summertime feel, evident on new single 'Wallflower'.
At times introverted and at others anthemic, it's the perfect mixture of light and shade that Matt Wills has long sought after.
