Politically charged disco...
Mario Basanov

Lithuania isn't renowned as a hub for dance music, but Mario Basanov is busy changing that.

Steeped in house lore, the beatsmith has a disco edge that gives his productions a real bounce. Recently releasing his debut LP via Needwant, Mario Basanov was able to carve out a name for himself in the sometimes insular British scene.

Continually moving forward, the producer is now ready to make his next move. Working with Apersonal Music, 'More For The Less' is a piece of soulful, mid tempo disco which has a political (with a small 'p') edge.

Jeremy Glenn steps in on guest vocals, with his warm tones playing against the sorrow of the lyrics. Mario Basanov's production, though, is sheer Paradise Garage - partying as the walls cave in, the track has the instinct of a true survivor.

Nodding towards jazz funk, those Fender Rhodes chords hit close to home while the 808 crack takes you onto the dancefloor. Out on February 25th, the full package includes a dub from Mario Basanov himself alongside re-workings from Michael J Collins and more.

ClashMusic has been granted first spin of the video.
