Jon Hopkins has enjoyed a stellar year.
New album 'Immunity' saw the producer return in some style, with his lengthy electronic meditations displaying a sharply-honed dancefloor bent. At the time of release, Clash reviewer Gemma Hampson opined:
"As an album, ‘Immunity’ takes you everywhere, while, track by track, you have your pick: from something to get everyone dancing, to the soundtrack of the sun rising over a perfect night, ending with a beautiful bonus bit of King Creosote for the hypnotic title track."
Expanded for a bonus re-issue, 'Immunity' retains its often visceral thrills. Stripped from the album, 'Collider' has been given the visual treatment by director Tom Haines.
A challenging clip, it features a young girl (played by Amanda Wass) in a club. Switching between night and day settings, the girl is forced to fight off a potential rapist at night, while those events still traumatise her during the day.
Powerfully shot and deeply affecting, you can watch it now.
