Imelda May, Jack Savoretti Combine On ‘Call Me’

Songwriter ends her tour with a star-studded Royal Albert Hall set...

Imelda May is riding the crest of a wave.

During the week she closed her triumphant UK tour with a show at London's historic Royal Albert Hall, joined by a flurry of guests.

One for the history books, Imelda May was joined by rock legends Ronnie Wood and Bob Geldof during a version of the blues staple 'Crying'.

As if that wasn't enough supporting artist Andreya Triana leaped back onstage for the final song – a gleeful run through The Undertones' punk classic 'Teenage Kicks'.

It wasn't like this, though. Much of Imelda May's recent material draws from some tough moments in her personal life, such as recent album stand out 'Call Me'.

About as emotional as it gets, Imelda's quivering vocal is set against a contribution from Jack Savoretti, their chemistry evident almost from the first note.

“I wrote ‘Call Me’ about the horrible time when you are willing the phone to ring, begging for the name to pop up, and it doesn’t,” says Imelda of the song. “I’ve always though it could work as a duet, and I think Jack totally nails his vocal. There’s so much longing in his voice, and there’s a truth to it too.”

Jack Savoretti says, “Recording this duet with Imelda and Cam was one of the best experiences I have ever had in a recording studio. The song is amazing and I am proud to be part of this.”

Clash has nabbed the full visuals for the song, and you can check them out below.

Imelda May's new album 'Life. Love. Flesh. Blood' is out now.
