Hey Sholay

It might well be grim up North, but that doesn't stop Hey Sholay from crafting something beautiful.

Hailing from Leeds and Sheffield, the band's debut album '((o))' was released last year. Each track appeared perfectly formed, a droplet of melody falling freely from psychedelic clouds.

An oddly idiosyncratic affair, Hey Sholay can't help but remind us of the Elephant 6 collective. There's the straight up exuberance of the apples In Stereo on show here, alongside the golden whimsy inherent in (early) of Montreal.

Set to play London venue the Scala tonight (May 21st) alongside The Crookes and The Heartbreaks, the band have posted a new video.

'WDYRWMTB' stands for 'Who Do You Really Want Me To Be?' and matched sugar sweet melodies with deceptively simple lyrics which tease apart difficulties within a relationship.

It's a simple clip - a young girl uses sign language to spell out the lyrics, while the song rolls around her. Yet the unknown actress has a charm, an aura which connects with Hey Sholay's implicit naivety.

Watch it now.
