Allowing the past to bleed into the present, Ariel Pink's brand of sun-bleached retro-Futurism has been much imitated.
Yet it remains a beguiling sound. Billed as a 'Perth fantasy windsurfer', Australian artist Eleventeen Eston arrives with his own take on the template.
Working with Not Not Fun, new cassette release 'Delta Horizon' is out this week. Lead cut 'Two Stroke Vertical Climb' has been given the video treatment, and it's a soothing, Yacht rock inspired piece of fudged production.
The familiar tropes are all here in the Benjamin Shearn directed video: damaged VHS tape, 80s fashion crimes and a defiantly amateur feel. Yet, for now, Eleventeen Eston just seems right with each wobbly note seeming to soundtrack high summer.
Watch it now.
