Heavenly's resurgence has been a curious thing to behold.
The London based label now sits in the middle of a psychedelic renaissance, with 2012 boasting releases from TOY, Stealing Sheep and Temples. New signings Charlie Boyer & The Voyeurs share a similar sense of wide eyed wonder, as well as a similar sense of ambition.
Playing shows in and around London, the newcomers meld Syd Barrett style whimsy to Stateside garage style Farfisa grunge. At times sneering, at others tender, Charlie Boyer & The Voyeurs have a teasing, seductive side tucked away up their (rather lovely) vintage sleeve.
New single 'Things We Be' / 'Feathers & Tar' is already raising our temperatures. Available on 7” and download, both tracks were produced by Edwyn Collins and Seb Lewsley during sessions for the band's debut album.
If lead cut 'Things We Be' is anything to go by, said LP could be something special. Nodding towards their influences, the track finds Charlie Boyer & The Voyeurs exploring their own voice - droning psych rock, for sure, but definitely one that knows its way around a killer hook.
