There are few sounds so redolent of France than gypsy swing.
Essentially a blend of 1930s American jazz and traditional gypsy guitar playing, the sound was forged by musicians such as Stephane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt, yet it continues to be updated for modern audiences.
Caravan Palace were enraptured by the sounds of gypsy swing, and set about forging it with their own identity. Melding acoustic sounds with electronic programming, the Parisian based collective quickly found an appreciative audience in their native France.
Heading across the channel, Caravan Palace are set to take the sounds of gypsy swing to the UK. Performing at Bestival, Clash and Right Guard caught up with the group backstage for an exclusive Off Guard Gigs interview.
