For many people, Alvvays' debut album (Clash review HERE) has been the soundtrack to their summer.
Packed with indie pop gems, it's a refreshing, confident introduction to a Canadian group who have a knack for producing ear-worm melodies.
Breakout single 'Archie, Marry Me' led the way. Opening with sparse, dreamy chords it suddenly plunges into a lovelorn gem with vocalist Molly Rankin pleading with her titular lover to enter the vows of matrimony.
Wry, funny and cute, it now comes equipped with some gorgeous, lo-fi visuals. The singer explains more: "So we made another super-8 video, one where we take 'take the plunge' to the logical extreme. The camera exploded at sea so we neutralized the black battery goo with vinegar and kept shooting. My hasty retreat via doggy-paddle was left on the cutting room floor. Go figure."
Packed with amusing references – Rankin spells 'A.R.C.H.I.E.' in sign language – you can watch it below.
Catch Alvvays at Visions festival in East London this Saturday (August 2nd) before they hit Dalston venue Birthdays on August 5th.
