Tiny Dancers

Pop-rockers "sound like we're from 1971"

Isn’t springtime on our little island such a lovely time? That first bolt of sunlight pokes through the clouds and suddenly it’s all short-sleeved shirts, sunglasses and lounging around in beer gardens. The very next day, frost, sleet, wind, rain… somebody up there is having a right laugh at us. It is on these cold, bleak ‘spring’ days that a little escapism is required, so thank God for a little three-minute melody that has been blaring out of many a radio of late.
‘I Will Wait For You’ could not be more summery if it arrived in a convertible, holding an ice cream, wearing a straw hat and sporting a sunburnt nose. Is this the work of some retrospective Southern Californians perhaps, or a long-lost 70’s recording? Nope, five young men from Sheffield, going by the name of Tiny Dancers..Eschewing the entire ‘Sheffield Sound’ that has given us the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Milburn, Little Man Tate et al, Tiny Dancers (an Elton John song, they insist it’s coincidental) are rocking down a different route.
“We respect those bands, but we all grew up listening to American music,” explains multi-instrumentalist Glover, “things like The Band, Lou Reed, Dylan, it all just rubbed off on us…”. “We sound like we’re from 1971, if it hasn’t gone out of fashion by now it never will!”
