I interrupt Parker Gispert on the road; the songwriter, front man and tuneful patriot is driving with his band The Whigs to a club date in North Florida on a blissful spring day. Trippin’ about the southern states, I’m told that tomorrow the Athens based band will drive a gruelling seventeen hours to Memphis, Tennessee, to play the Beale Street Music Festival, a venture that would rattle even the most highly zonked trucky, but then Gispert seems unnaturally nonchalant about the pending journey.
