The Black Keys
A blues driven, lo-fi rock duo
Daniel Auerbach and Patrick Carney gained inspiration for their name from a Schizophrenic friend, who dubbed those he mistrusted or disliked as “The Black Keys”. It’s too easy to draw a parrallel with the White Stripes, a comparison often made; a blues driven, lo-fi rock duo who shun bass and play all the harder for it, their music has gained them attention for the raw driving guitar, and howling, passionate vocals of Auerbach, framed within the thundering drums of Camey. Auerbach’s voice drips with the blues, and in songs like “Thickfreakness” and “Girl Is On My Mind”, they blend into noises which aren’t quite English as we know it.
