Having directed music videos for the likes of Lana Del Rey (Born To Die), Rihanna and Drake (Take Care), Taylor Swift (Back to December) and Katy Perry (Teenage Dream), it is perhaps unsurprising that Yoann Lemoine, aka Woodkid has delivered nothing short of a cinematic spectacle for his new track ‘I Love You’.
The first single to be released from his debut album ‘The Golden Age’, the LP will be available to buy and download on March 18th this year. Having already been nominated for a Grammy for his video ‘Run Boy Run’, his latest offering is an expertly crafted visual of greyscale imagery that brings the track about love and loss, full of cinematic intent, to life.
‘I Love You’ is another example of how Lemoine’s directorial eye and filmatic experience greatly influences his sound. The tracks ‘Iron’ and ‘Run Boy Run’ see Lemoine lay vocals and synths over weighty orchesteral compositions which gives his songs an epic, cinematic quality in themselves. This is perhaps why both tracks have been synced to various grand scale ad campaigns for the likes of 02, Nike, Dior, Peugeot and Guinness keen to make an impact.
Check out the video below and catch Woodkid playing at the Roundhouse on the 14th May.
